Recast is a tool for turning content you already have into content you can publish. This policy explains what we hold, why we hold it, and what you can make us do about it.
It is written to be read. Where a section could be said in one line, it is.
What we collect
What you give us. Your name, email address and password when you create an account. A display name, short bio, avatar and banner if you choose to add them. Your timezone, so scheduled publishing happens when you expect.
What you create. The drafts, articles, images, brand kits, feeds and publishing schedules you make in Recast. This is your work. We store it so the product functions.
What you connect. If you connect a site to publish to, we store the address and the credentials you provide. These are used to publish on your instruction and nothing else.
What we are sent. Your browser sends an IP address and a user agent with every request, as it does to every website. Our server logs these.
What we do not collect. We do not run analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising tag, and no third-party tracker of any kind on this site. We do not buy data about you, we do not sell data about you, and we do not build a profile of you for advertising.
Cookies
Two, both necessary:
- a session cookie, so you stay signed in;
- a CSRF token, which stops another site submitting forms as you.
That is the complete list. Because we set no advertising or analytics cookies, there is no consent banner — there is nothing to consent to.
How we use it
To run your account, do the work you ask for, take payment, send you the emails you have asked for, keep the service secure, and meet our legal obligations. That is the whole list.
We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not licence your content to anyone.
Who we share it with
Only the companies that make the product work, and only with what they need:

We never sell personal information. We share it otherwise only if the law requires it, or to protect someone from harm.
Where it is stored, and for how long
Your data is held on servers in the United States.
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is open. Close your account and we delete your content within 30 days, except where we must keep records — billing records, for example, which tax law requires us to retain.
Your rights
Whoever and wherever you are, you can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- send it to you in a portable format;
- stop sending you marketing email — every one has an unsubscribe link that works.
If you are in California, the CCPA gives you these rights explicitly, plus the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. If you are in the UK or EU, the UK GDPR and GDPR give you these rights, and our lawful bases are performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in running and securing the service, and consent where you have given it.
Ask, and we will do it. There is no form to find and no fee.
Security
Passwords are hashed and never stored in a readable form. Credentials for sites you connect are encrypted. Traffic is served over HTTPS. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects you.
Children
Recast is not for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, and we delete it if we discover we have.
Changes
If we change this, we will update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we will email you rather than hope you check.
