These are the terms you agree to by using Recast. They are written plainly on purpose. Using the service means you accept them.
What Recast is
Recast takes content you already have — a link, a video, a podcast, a feed — and helps you turn it into something you can publish. It generates drafts. It does not publish anything to your own site without being asked.
Your account
You need an account for most of it. You must be 13 or older, give us an email address that works, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else is in it.
One person per login. If your team needs access, add them to your workspace rather than sharing a password — the plans allow for it.
Paying
Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly. AI generation spends credits, which refresh with your plan; everything that does not call a model is unlimited.
Refunds. If Recast is not what you expected, email us within 30 days of paying and we will refund you. No form, no argument.
Changes. Upgrade and you are charged the difference immediately. Downgrade and it applies at your next renewal. Cancel any time from your settings, and you keep access until the period you have paid for ends. We do not charge a cancellation fee and we do not make you call anyone.
If a payment fails we will try again and email you. If it keeps failing, we may suspend the account rather than let a balance build up.
Prices
We may change prices. If we do, existing customers get at least 30 days' notice by email before it affects them, and you can cancel in that time.
What you put in
You must have the right to use what you feed into Recast. Pasting a link to an article you did not write and publishing the result as your own is your decision and your risk, not ours. The same applies to video, audio, images and feeds.
Do not use Recast to produce anything unlawful, to impersonate somebody, to publish content designed to mislead about who wrote it, or to generate material at a volume intended to game a search engine. We may suspend an account doing any of that.
What comes out
You own your content. Everything you create in Recast is yours. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to it beyond what is needed to store it, process it and publish it where you tell us to. We do not use it to train AI models.
Check it before you publish. Recast generates drafts with AI. AI gets things wrong — it can state a fact that is not true, and it can produce a phrase close to its source. Every draft is a starting point that a person needs to read. You are responsible for what you publish under your own name, and we cannot be responsible for the accuracy or originality of generated text.
What we owe you
We work to keep Recast available and quick, but we do not promise a specific uptime figure and this is not sold with a service level agreement. We will not look at your content except when you ask us to for support, or where we must to keep the service running or comply with the law. To help with a problem, a member of our team may sign in to your account and see it as you do. When that happens it is recorded — who did it, when, and why — the session ends by itself after a short time, and they cannot change your password, your email address or your billing details while doing it.
We may change or remove features. If we remove something you rely on, we will tell you before we do it.
Ending it
You can close your account whenever you like, from your settings. Your content is deleted within 30 days.
We may close your account if you break these terms, if you do not pay, or if keeping it open would put us or another customer at risk. Except where the reason is serious, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.
Liability
Recast is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
The legal bits
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, and any dispute goes to the courts there.
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will email you before it takes effect rather than quietly change the page.
